Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Software Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of scalable software applications, integrations, and business intelligence solutions. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced software engineers to develop services and applications using Java and.NET (C#), contribute to system integrations, and build and maintain Power BI reporting solutions that enable informed business decision making. This role will provide an excellent opportunity to develop software engineering expertise while contributing to reliable, secure, and high-quality digital products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable software applications, app components, and services under guidance from senior team members
- Assist in building, maintaining, and enhancing reports, dashboards, and data models to support business reporting needs
- Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of app integrations, APIs, backend services, and data exchange processes with databases, cloud services, and third-party systems
- Develop, test, and support user-focused, reliable, and maintainable software features, fixes, and enhancements for downstream users and systems
- Maintain software quality, security, performance, and coding standards, including validation, error handling, logging, and quality controls
- Monitor application and app execution performance, and support the investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of software, integration, reporting, and data discrepancy issues
- Support the delivery of operational, reporting, and customer-facing technology solutions
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, senior engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and build scalable solutions
- Follow established software engineering standards, best practices, and development frameworks
- Support deployment, release, and CI/CD activities for software and reporting solutions
- Assist with performance tuning of apps, services, database queries, and reports
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Produce and maintain technical documentation
- Ensure compliance with security, data protection, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives

Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or experience within a related discipline.
- Certifications (Desirable): Microsoft Azure Fundamentals or Azure Developer Associate certification. Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate certification.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in software engineering, application development, business intelligence, or related technical roles, gained through commercial experience, internships, or academic projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Foundational Java and/or.NET (C#) development skills
- Working knowledge of Power BI report development, dashboards, and data modeling concepts
- Good SQL skills and understanding of relational databases
- Basic understanding of software development lifecycles and application architecture
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Good communication, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to software quality
- Good documentation and technical writing skills
- Proactive attitude and eagerness to learn modern software engineering technologies and practices

Desirable Skills
- Exposure to cloud platforms and services, such as Microsoft Azure
- Familiarity with REST APIs, web services, and application integration patterns
- Understanding of software testing, secure coding, and quality assurance principles
- Exposure to DevOps practices and source control platforms
- Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies
Additional Information
Working Pattern and Location
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Location: Based in Warwick
Package
- Salary: up to £35,000 per annum
