Private Client Solicitor
We are seeking an ambitious and personable Private Client Solicitor (3-6 years' PQE) to join our growing and highly regarded Private Wealth team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor looking to move beyond traditional private client work and develop expertise in sophisticated wealth planning for High-Net-Worth individuals, families and business owners. Working alongside Partners and Senior Associates, you will gain exposure to a broad range of complex matters, including tax and estate planning, trusts, succession planning, international estates and cross-border wealth structuring.
Our team advises entrepreneurs, family business owners, wealthy individuals, trustees and internationally connected families on some of their most significant personal, family and business matters. We pride ourselves on delivering practical, commercially focused advice and building long-term relationships with our clients and their advisers.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative and supportive team within a growing and ambitious firm.

The role offers significant opportunities to deepen technical expertise, work directly with Partners on sophisticated private wealth and tax planning matters, develop relationships with high-net-worth clients and professional introducers, and take on increasing responsibility within a growing and ambitious team. There is a clear pathway to Senior Associate and, in due course, beyond that for candidates who demonstrate strong technical ability, client relationship skills and a commitment to business development.
We operate a hybrid working model, with regular collaboration across our Reading office and London hub.

- Advising clients on wills, trusts and estate administration matters.
- Assisting with sophisticated inheritance tax, capital gains tax and succession planning projects.
- Supporting the structuring, creation and ongoing administration of trusts, including those with international elements.
- Advising on lifetime wealth transfer planning and asset protection strategies.
- Working on estate administrations, including those involving business assets, trusts and overseas connections.
- Assisting with the preparation of Letters of Wishes and wider family governance documents.
- Supporting clients with business succession planning and intergenerational wealth transfer arrangements.
- Liaising with accountants, financial advisers and other professional advisers to deliver joined-up advice.
- Managing a varied caseload with an appropriate level of autonomy while seeking support on more complex matters where required.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships and delivering a high standard of client service.
- Contributing to business development initiatives, networking activities and the continued growth of the Private Wealth team.
What we’re looking for
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- 3-6 years' PQE gained within a respected private client team.
- Experience advising on a range of private client matters, including wills, trusts and estate administration.
- STEP qualified (or working towards STEP qualification) would be advantageous.
- CTA qualification, CTA study, or an interest in developing specialist tax expertise would also be welcomed.
- A strong interest in tax, succession and wealth planning matters.
- Experience advising, or assisting with advice, for entrepreneurs, business owners, wealthy families or internationally connected clients would be advantageous.
- Excellent technical, drafting and analytical skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to working with colleagues and professional contacts.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to build rapport and confidence with clients and other advisers.
- Enthusiasm for developing expertise in complex wealth planning and contributing to the continued success of the team.
