Non Contentious Construction, London, 5-7 PQE

To the 5-7 PQE Construction lawyer who would rather be negotiating building contracts for film studios, hotels and logistics schemes than for energy and infrastructure projects, this one is worth a few minutes of your time.

I am working with a highly regarded London firm whose non-contentious construction team is particularly busy and is accordingly looking to add a further solicitor to support the growth.

What sets the role apart is the mix of work. The team acts for developers, contractors, consultants and funds in its own right, and also works closely with the firm's Private Wealth and Commercial Real Estate practices. That means advising ultra-high net worth individuals as well as large institutions, across sectors including film and studios, sport, hotels and leisure, industrial and logistics, living and retail. It is a combination you do not often find in a construction team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

I must say, the culture is a real draw too. People there are open, friendly and clearly enjoy what they do, and the firm takes wellbeing seriously.

The essentials:

  • Non-contentious construction solicitor, permanent and full time
  • 5 to 7 PQE, ideally from a top-tier real estate or construction practice
  • Experience must be from a real estate perspective, rather than energy, projects or infrastructure
  • Confident drafting and negotiating JCT contracts, appointments, PCSAs, collateral warranties and security documents
  • Experience advising alongside real estate colleagues on purchases, disposals, lettings and forward fundings
  • Supervising associates, paralegals and trainees
  • London, with hybrid working
