Speech Therapy HQ provides holistic, person-centred communication and swallowing therapy for individuals across the lifespan. Our mission is to empower people to connect, express, and thrive by considering the mind, body, and environment in every treatment plan. We specialise in Telehealth and in-person services across Greater Manchester, including Stockport and Tameside, combining evidence-based techniques with compassionate care. Our clinicians support clients with a wide range of communication and swallowing differences.
Role Description
The Associate Speech & Language Therapist is a freelance home-based role conducting home, clinic, school, and nursery visits in Manchester and Greater Manchester. The successful candidate will provide assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for a range of communication and swallowing difficulties in children. Specialisms are welcomed, though variety is the spice of life, so an open mindset and flexible skills are desirable.

- Conducting comprehensive clinical assessments
- Developing individualized treatment plans
- Delivering one-to-one therapy sessions, training, and coaching caregivers
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation
- Preparing progress reports
- Collaborating with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure continuity of care
The therapist will apply evidence-based practice and ongoing professional learning. The position requires a client-centred approach, excellent organisation and time management, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary framework.
Qualifications and Experience
- BSc or MSc in Speech and Language Therapy
- Current registration with HCPC and RCSLT
- Current enhanced DBS certificate and registration with the update service
- Strong clinical skills in Speech Therapy, including assessment, intervention, and outcome measurement
- Experience working with children with Communication Disorders (experience and competence in eating, drinking, and swallowing disorders is desirable but not essential)
- Knowledge of assessment and evidence-based management of social communication differences, AAC, language, and speech sound disorders
- Proven holistic and client-centred approach
- Ability to build rapport with clients and families, demonstrating empathy, cultural sensitivity, and clear communication
- Strong organisational skills, including high-level team communication, caseload management, accurate record-keeping, and adherence to clinical governance and safeguarding standards
- Continuous professional development, supervision, and reflective practice; prior experience in working with autism is an advantage
- Newly qualified practitioners may be considered, though prior completion of competencies is highly desirable
- Band 5 or Band 6 level applications welcome
- Driving license and use of a car for business purposes
