Group Description

The Strategic, Defense and Shareholder Advisory team is a global group that focuses on advising clients with respect to shareholder activism, M&A defense, complex/contested M&A and related situations in North America, Europe and Asia.

What is the position?

Evercore seeks to hire an experienced Associate for its Strategic, Defense and Shareholder Advisory Team based in London.

Primary Responsibilities

Evercore’s differentiated approach to advisory provides our Associates with the opportunity to work closely with senior bankers on industry-transforming transactions around the world. The small transaction team structure creates a platform for Associates to learn from the best and assume high levels of responsibility at early stages of their careers. As part of our team, the Associate will work on a variety of strategic advisory assignments including:

  • Activism and M&A defense
  • Sell-side and buyside M&A engagements, divestitures and spin-off engagements
  • Special committee engagements
  • More broadly, evaluation of strategic alternatives

The Associate will work in a team environment within Evercore’s global Strategic, Defense, and Shareholder Advisory practice.

Specific Qualifications

Candidates should ideally have prior investment banking experience, a strong interest in activism defense, as well as the ability to think broadly about a range of issues confronting our firm’s clients. The Associate will be ambitious, self-directed, creative and resourceful. Knowledge of accounting, finance, valuation and business strategy is a must, as are excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
