Associate Structural Engineer
Location: Central London
Employment: Full-time
Salary: To be negotiated.
Career progression: Pathway to Executive Director
The Role
DCL Consulting Engineers is an independent structural and civil engineering consultancy based in Central London close to Tottenham Court Road underground station.
We are looking for an experienced and ambitious Structural Engineer to join us at Associate level, with the opportunity to progress into an Executive Director role.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical and project delivery skills with team leadership, client management and business development.
This is an opportunity to play a significant role in the growth of the company, help develop our engineers and technicians and work closely with the existing Directors to shape the future of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage structural engineering projects from inception through to completion.
- Provide technical leadership and engineering guidance across projects.
- Manage, mentor and develop graduate and project engineers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects and contractors.
- Contribute to business development and the generation of new work. Introducing new clients to our business we see as pivotal to the role.
- Prepare fee proposals, tenders and scopes of service.
- Assist with project and commercial management, including fees, resources and programmes.
- Work with the Directors on the strategic growth and development of DCL Consulting Engineers Ltd.

Required Experience & Qualifications
- Chartered MIStructE and MICE.
- Strong technical and project management experience.
- Experience delivering projects independently from inception to completion.
- Experience managing and mentoring less experienced engineers.
- Strong client-facing and communication skills.
- Commercially aware with an understanding of consultancy business.
- Ambition to progress into a senior leadership/Executive Director role.

Preferred Experience & Attributes
- 10+ years' structural/civil consultancy experience.
- Existing portfolio of clients and transferable business relationships.
- Experience across a range of sectors and project types.
- Previous Associate, Principal, or similar senior-level experience and references
- Experience preparing fee proposals and tenders.
- Experience managing project budgets, fees and resources.
- A strong interest in developing people and building a high-performing team.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and enthusiasm for helping grow an independent consultancy.
