Role Purpose

The Associate role at Ardent is integral to supporting the growth within the Infrastructure sector by managing project teams and overseeing land services for key renewable and infrastructure projects. This role ensures the effective delivery of land agreements and client support, contributing to the success of major infrastructure projects across the UK.

As an Associate, you will work closely with Project Directors to manage projects in the utilities and renewable sectors, ensuring client requirements and budgets are met. You will provide technical advice to clients and the delivery team, ensuring projects are executed efficiently and to a high standard. Additionally, you will mentor junior team members, fostering their development and aligning them with Ardent’s values.


Key Responsibilities

  • Project Delivery: Manage projects and project teams alongside Project Directors, ensuring that project delivery and outcomes meet or exceed client expectations. This includes planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to deadlines and within budget.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with landowners, handle public enquiries, and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to facilitate smooth project delivery. This involves clear and timely communication to reduce conflicts or delays.
  • Financial Management: Ensure that all financial aspects of the project, including invoicing, debt management, and time sign-off, are completed accurately and on time. Support the directorate in meeting business Work in Progress (WIP) and debtor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Technical Support: Provide technical advice and support to the delivery team and clients, ensuring that instructions are delivered effectively and efficiently. This includes understanding and applying knowledge of land agreements, DCOs, and Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs).
  • People Leadership: Act as a coach and mentor to junior team members, providing technical advice, support for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and fostering a culture of learning and growth. Enhance team performance and retention by sharing experience and knowledge.
  • Business Development: Assist in business development activities and cross-selling efforts to grow the team and business. This includes expanding existing instructions and bringing in new clients to secure further revenue and deliver against forecast targets.

  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain effective client and stakeholder relationships.
  • People Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams; support junior staff growth.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understand and negotiate land agreements; knowledge of DCO and CPO requirements.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects within scope and budget; handle budgeting and cost control.
  • Negotiation and Communication: Secure land agreements and resolve disputes; effective verbal and written communication.
  • Commercial Awareness and Problem-Solving: Identify new business opportunities and stay informed on market trends; manage risks and make informed decisions.
  • Adaptability and Attention to Detail: Adapt to changing project requirements; maintain accuracy and ensure high quality in all outputs.
