The Opportunity
We are excited to offer a brand-new opportunity for an Associate Technical Service Specialist to join our team in the Midlands.
This entry-level position is designed for recent graduates and aspiring technical professionals who are looking to build a career in healthcare technology, field service, and customer support. Through comprehensive training, mentoring, and hands-on experience, you'll develop the technical expertise needed to support Abbott's diagnostic systems across customer laboratories and healthcare settings.
Working alongside experienced Technical Service Specialists, you'll gain exposure to installations, maintenance activities, troubleshooting, customer training, and technical support while playing an important role in helping customers get the most from Abbott's diagnostic solutions.
What You'll Do
As an Associate Technical Service Specialist, you will:
- Support the installation and deinstallation of Abbott diagnostic systems.
- Assist with preventative maintenance and service activities across customer sites.
- Learn to diagnose and resolve basic hardware and software issues under the guidance of experienced team members.
- Support instrument upgrades and software updates.
- Participate in installation qualification and operational qualification activities.
- Build strong relationships with customers and provide a high level of service and support.
- Deliver introductory operator training following installations and upgrades.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
- Collaborate with Technical Service, Sales, Applications, and Customer Support teams.
- Develop a strong understanding of Abbott's products, technologies, and service processes.
- Participate in structured training programmes designed to accelerate your technical and professional development.

What You'll Bring
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences, Medical Technology, Engineering, Life Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong interest in healthcare technology and field-based technical support.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- A proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence
Preferred
- Relevant internship, placement year, laboratory, engineering, or customer-facing experience.
- Basic understanding of diagnostic technologies, laboratory environments, or healthcare settings.
- Experience using common IT systems and software applications.
