Role Overview
The Associate Tester in a UK FinTech company is an entry-level role that supports the testing of financial applications and processes. The Associate Tester assists in executing functional, process, and user acceptance tests under guidance from more experienced QA professionals. The role focuses on learning testing methodologies, maintaining test documentation, and contributing to defect identification and verification. It is ideal for individuals starting a career in quality assurance, providing a foundation for growth into Tester, Senior Tester, and eventually leadership roles within a regulated fintech environment.
Typical Job Responsibilities
Test Execution Support
- Assist in running functional and process test cases under guidance from Testers or Senior Testers.
- Record test results and document any observed defects or anomalies clearly.
- Retest resolved defects to verify fixes as directed.
Quality Assurance Contribution
- Apply organizational QA standards, checklists, and procedures when executing tests.
- Maintain and update test documentation, including test scripts and results.
- Contribute to basic quality reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work under supervision within a testing team, learning from Senior Testers and Test Leads.
- Communicate test progress, issues, and observations clearly to assigned mentors or leads.
- Support User Acceptance Testing by assisting business users and validating test outcomes.

Process Testing
- Execute simple process and workflow-based test cases to support operational readiness.
- Verify that basic transaction flows and business processes function correctly in fintech applications.
