Associate Town Planner

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

A well-established and highly regarded planning consultancy is looking to appoint an Associate Town Planner to join its growing team in Oxfordshire.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning professional to take the next step in their career, working on a diverse portfolio of projects across the residential, commercial, rural and strategic planning sectors.
The successful candidate will become an integral part of a collaborative team, providing planning advice to a broad range of private and corporate clients and helping to deliver projects from initial feasibility through to planning determination.
The Role
As an Associate Town Planner, you will:
- Manage a varied caseload of planning projects from inception through to determination.
- Provide strategic and practical planning advice to clients.
- Prepare and submit planning applications and appeals.
- Undertake planning appraisals, feasibility studies and development assessments.
- Liaise with local planning authorities, consultees, stakeholders and other professional advisers.
- Prepare planning statements, representations and other supporting documentation.
- Assist with business development and the generation of new instructions.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Support and mentor more junior members of the planning team.
- Keep up to date with changes to planning policy, legislation and relevant case law.

About You
We are looking for someone with:
- A relevant degree and/or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
- Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), or working towards chartership.
- Strong experience within a planning consultancy, local authority or related environment.
- Good knowledge of the English planning system and current planning policy.
- Experience managing planning applications and providing advice to clients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- A commercial and proactive approach to planning.
- The confidence to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
