Job Title: Associate Town Planner
Location: Bristol
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading multi-disciplinary property consultancy in their search for an Associate Town Planner to join their growing planning team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious planner looking to take the next step in their career, with the opportunity to work on nationally significant projects, develop key client relationships and progress towards a senior leadership position.
The Role
Working closely with Partners and senior members of the planning team, you will take responsibility for the ongoing management and delivery of a varied portfolio of planning projects.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Managing planning projects from inception through to completion, ensuring client requirements and deadlines are met
- Providing high-quality planning advice and maintaining strong technical knowledge across the planning sector
- Managing project programmes, fees, invoicing, WIP and debtors
- Preparing project plans, fee agreements and high-quality written reports
- Supporting business development, work winning and marketing activity
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships
- Representing clients at public meetings where required
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the planning team
- Managing staff development, including timesheets, CPD, training and annual leave
- Quality controlling project outputs in line with established QA procedures
- Working collaboratively across a multi-disciplinary professional services environment
- Contributing to the wider strategic development and growth of the planning business

The Candidate
We’re looking for a commercially minded and ambitious Chartered Town Planner who is ready to take on greater responsibility and progress towards senior leadership.
You’ll Ideally Have
- Chartered membership of the RTPI
- Strong experience within planning consultancy or a similar professional environment
- Proven experience managing planning projects and client relationships
- Strong technical planning knowledge
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
- A commercially focused and entrepreneurial approach
- The confidence to build and nurture long-term client relationships
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- A strategic approach to problem solving
- A genuine ambition to progress your career and contribute to business growth
