The opportunity
As an Associate, you’ll take the lead on a diverse portfolio of complex and high-profile transport planning projects. You’ll bring technical expertise and strategic thinking to the table, while working closely with clients, stakeholders and colleagues to deliver solutions that make a difference. You’ll be a trusted senior adviser to our clients, a mentor to developing colleagues and an important voice in the continued growth of the practice. This role is ideal for an experienced transport professional who is ready to broaden their influence and take the next step in their career, combining technical leadership with team development, client management and commercial contribution.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead high-profile projects – take ownership of multiple complex transport planning commissions from inception through to delivery.
- Shape technical solutions – provide expert direction, challenge and oversight across modelling, analysis and technical deliverables.
- Influence strategic decisions – use your technical expertise to develop practical advice aligned with planning policy, sustainability objectives and client priorities.
- Build trusted client relationships – act as a senior point of contact, representing the consultancy at meetings, negotiations and stakeholder engagements.
- Lead and inspire teams – manage project teams, promote collaboration and ensure consistently high-quality outputs.
- Develop the next generation of talent – mentor colleagues, share knowledge and support the professional development of the wider team.
- Contribute to growth – play an active role in business development through client engagement, proposals, networking and identifying new opportunities.
- Help shape the practice – contribute ideas, expertise and leadership as we continue to grow and evolve as a consultancy.

About you
You’re an experienced transport planner who combines strong technical expertise with the confidence and ambition to lead.
You’ll bring:
- Significant experience in development-related transport planning
- Strong technical expertise across transport modelling, analysis and highway design
- A proven track record of successfully managing complex projects and multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to build strong, long-term client relationships
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to identifying and developing opportunities
- Chartered status, or active progress towards chartership, with a relevant professional body
