VAT Leader
We're looking for an ambitious and commercially minded VAT leader to help drive the next phase of growth within our Tax team.
Reporting directly to the Senior Tax Director, you'll combine deep technical VAT expertise with strong leadership and business development skills to deliver exceptional client service and grow our VAT practice.
As a senior member of the Tax Leadership Team, you'll have the opportunity to influence strategy, strengthen key client relationships, identify new opportunities for growth, and mentor the next generation of tax professionals. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our VAT offering while making a meaningful contribution to the wider business.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the delivery of high-quality VAT advisory and compliance services, ensuring excellent client outcomes, effective risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Grow the VAT practice through strong client relationships, business development, cross-selling opportunities and the delivery of commercially focused advice.
- Act as a trusted adviser on complex UK and international VAT matters, providing technical leadership to clients and colleagues.
- Deliver strong portfolio performance through effective management of client service, profitability, billing and resource utilisation.
- Build collaborative relationships across ZEDRA to deliver joined-up client solutions and support broader business growth.
- Develop, coach and mentor colleagues, strengthening capability, performance and career development across the VAT team.
- Drive continuous improvement through process optimisation, innovation and the effective use of technology.
- Contribute to the strategic development of the Tax function through thought leadership, market insight and participation in key business initiatives.

Skills & Experience
- Professionally qualified (ICAEW, CTA, or ACCA).
- Strong post-qualification practice experience within VAT advisory and compliance.
- Strong understanding of UK VAT with exposure to international VAT matters.
- Proven ability to build trusted client relationships and identify commercial opportunities.
- Experience leading, developing and coaching high-performing teams.
- Strong commercial awareness, including portfolio management, profitability and business development.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues into practical business advice.
- Collaborative leadership style with sound judgement and a focus on continuous improvement.
