Role Summary
Neuro Routes is expanding its associate network and is seeking experienced Associate Vocational Rehabilitation Consultants to deliver high-quality, person-centred vocational rehabilitation services across the UK.
Our consultants support individuals experiencing injury, disability, neurological conditions and complex physical and/or mental health needs, where changes in health or function have affected employment, work capacity, career progression or wider vocational participation.
Associates will undertake vocational assessments, develop evidence-based rehabilitation recommendations and provide vocational rehabilitation interventions designed to support individuals to return to work, remain in employment, progress in their careers or identify appropriate alternative vocational pathways.
Consultants will work autonomously while collaborating with clients, employers, case managers, healthcare professionals, solicitors, insurers and other stakeholders involved in an individual's rehabilitation.
Success within the role will be demonstrated through high-quality assessment and reporting, effective stakeholder engagement, timely case progression and a strong focus on meaningful and sustainable vocational outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive vocational assessments considering work history, education, qualifications, transferable skills, abilities, interests, vocational goals and barriers to participation.
- Develop individualised, evidence-based vocational rehabilitation plans with clear and measurable goals.
- Support return to work, job retention, career progression, redeployment and exploration of alternative vocational pathways.
- Undertake transferable skills analysis and vocational exploration where appropriate.
- Consider physical, cognitive, psychological, behavioural, social and environmental factors affecting work capacity and vocational participation.
- Work collaboratively with employers to identify reasonable adjustments, phased return-to-work programmes, role modifications and strategies to support sustainable employment.
- Apply vocational rehabilitation and disability management principles to individuals experiencing complex or long-term barriers to work following injury, disability or changes in health.
- Liaise effectively with case managers, employers, occupational health professionals, treating clinicians, solicitors, insurers and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to coordinated rehabilitation planning, ensuring vocational goals are appropriately integrated within wider rehabilitation programmes.
- Produce clear, professional and evidence-based vocational reports, recommendations and case updates within agreed timescales.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and contemporaneous records in accordance with professional and organisational requirements.
- Manage allocated referrals and caseloads effectively and autonomously.
- Maintain appropriate professional registration, insurance, continuing professional development and competency.
- Work in accordance with Neuro Routes' policies, professional standards and Five A Framework: Advocacy, Accessibility, Acceptance, Autonomy and Adaptability.

Qualifications
Essential
- Relevant professional qualification and/or substantial experience within vocational rehabilitation, vocational case management, occupational rehabilitation, disability management, rehabilitation, healthcare, psychology, employment support or a related field.
- Membership of a relevant professional organisation, including the Vocational Rehabilitation Association (VRA), Institute of Rehabilitation and Case Management (IRCM), or an appropriate healthcare professional body.
- Demonstrable experience supporting individuals experiencing injury-, disability- or health-related barriers to employment and vocational participation.
- Strong assessment, rehabilitation planning and goal-setting skills.
- Understanding of the relationship between health, function, disability and occupational demands.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including professional report writing.
- Strong multidisciplinary and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and meet agreed timescales.
- Commitment to person-centred, inclusive and evidence-based rehabilitation practice.
- Appropriate professional indemnity insurance and professional registration where applicable.

Desirable
- Experience supporting individuals following acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, neurological injury, major orthopaedic injury, polytrauma, psychological injury or other serious and complex injuries.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary rehabilitation environments supporting individuals following significant injury or changes in health.
- Experience working alongside case managers, solicitors, insurers, employers, treating professionals and multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams.
- Experience undertaking vocational assessments, transferable skills analysis, workplace assessments and return-to-work planning.
- Understanding of coordinated rehabilitation pathways and relevant rehabilitation frameworks.

Successful associates will deliver responsive, high-quality and evidence-based vocational rehabilitation while developing effective relationships with clients and professional stakeholders. They will provide practical and proportionate recommendations, contribute effectively to multidisciplinary rehabilitation and maintain a clear focus on helping individuals achieve realistic, meaningful and sustainable vocational outcomes.
How the Role Fits Within Neuro Routes
Associate Vocational Rehabilitation Consultants form part of Neuro Routes' growing multidisciplinary associate network and contribute to our wider vocational rehabilitation, disability management and rehabilitation services.
The role complements our rehabilitation case management and clinical services, enabling a coordinated approach to addressing the vocational consequences of injury, disability and complex health conditions.
Our approach extends beyond simply facilitating a return to employment. We aim to support individuals, wherever possible, to return, progress and thrive, recognising that meaningful vocational participation may include employment, education, training, volunteering or other purposeful activity.
