Role Overview

This role supports good client outcomes and the firm’s growth objective whilst enabling you to develop your industry knowledge, client relationship and commercial skills in readiness for you being Certificated to provide planning advice working closely with our more senior Planners.

Whilst developing your knowledge and skills you support good client outcomes by providing paraplanning and other client support.

At all times you should work in a way which ensures full compliance with the regulatory and organisational procedures, act honestly, fairly and professionally in accordance with the best interests of the Firm’s clients to deliver good client outcomes.

Client Support

  • Support the Planner’s workflow by efficient co-ordination of central services.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver good client outcomes.
  • Prepare and submit CDD and new account paperwork for client onboarding, following the Company’s AML process and procedures.
  • Arrange client meetings, valuations, meeting packs and manage the Wealth Planners diaries.
  • Complete any required post meeting actions and minutes.
  • Be a first contact point for clients to handle general queries, escalating complex queries to the Planner, adapting your approach for clients in vulnerable circumstances.
  • Handle client correspondence and post.
  • Prepare letters of authority for signing.
  • Prepare client application forms in line with suitability report recommendations, ensuring they are actioned when returned by the client within business agreed timeframes and with accuracy.
  • Accurately create and maintain XPlan and any associated client records.

Paraplanning Support

  • Undertake Paraplanning activity for the Planners on the team and in exceptional circumstances, provide support to the wider Paraplanning team. Paraplanning responsibilities include:
  • Undertake appropriate, accurate and relevant research, based on the information gathered by the Planner, known information for clients in the on-going advice service and existing products/services the client has, to enable a suitable solution to be recommended to meet the client’s needs and objectives with a good outcome.
  • Undertake accurate calculations and cash-flow modelling where needed to support recommendations.
  • Prepare suitability reports and letters for the Planners to provide their recommendation based on our knowledge of the client, their documented needs, objectives, risk profile, to support a good client outcome, adapting your approach for clients in vulnerable circumstances.
  • Ensure that drafted suitability reports and other communications are clear, fair, and not misleading.
  • Draft and co-ordinate technical documents and research for client presentation.
  • When undertaking research or preparing suitability reports proactively identify areas of potential future advice and raise with the Planner for them to discuss with the client.
  • As required to support the Planners on the team, undertake Wealth Planning administration activities such as new business processing, client onboarding, valuations, XPlan and dealing with general client queries.
  • Demonstrate the Fitness and Propriety requirements for the FCA Certification Function for the role to be able to pass the annual assessment and continue to be Certificated by the Company.

Wealth Planning Development

  • Be proactive in developing your technical knowledge and skills. Undertake and record relevant Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to develop knowledge and skills. Keep abreast of industry best practice, issues, and trends.
  • Develop your skills in building trust, asking for referrals, effective questioning and listening techniques.
  • Develop a ‘sales mindset’ preparing you for a future role where you must show that you can: manage pipeline, balance inflow and outflows, focus on the ‘right’ activity and learn how to remove ‘blockages/barriers’.
  • Show that you are successful at collaborating with the Investment Managers and Intermediaries.
  • Contribute to efficiency improvement initiatives and sharing of best practice. Identify and report potential improvements to business processes and assist the senior leadership team in helping to implement agreed changes.
  • Active involvement in firm-wide projects to improve efficiencies and new service delivery, in addition a willingness and desire to work with other companies on Group related projects as and when required.
  • Develop networking with professional introducers and providers to promote the services of the business.
