The Opportunity

  • Are you a numbers person who likes producing financial models?
  • Are you the kind of person who looks at a problem and immediately wants to weigh up the options and work out what delivers the best outcome for the public sector?
  • Do you get a buzz from developing Green Book business cases for novel and complex projects?
  • Does the idea of untangling complex financial issues, and then explaining the answer plainly to senior executives, sound like your kind of problem?

If you answered yes above, and you're driven by supporting the public sector, this could be the role for you.

The Role

P2G Contract Support LLP is searching for a financially minded Associate or Associate Director to join our Financial Advisory team, working within our Transaction and Commercial Support pillar. We are known for tackling contested accounting positions and complex business cases and helping the public sector secure and account for the funding it needs.

In this role, you will work directly with Partners on live client mandates for NHS trusts, local authorities, and government clients, to:

  • build and interrogate financial models supporting business cases, contract variations, and PFI expiry or handback scenarios.
  • develop Strategic Outline Cases and Full Business Cases aligned with HM Treasury Green Book principles, through the five case model to approval.
  • assess alternative funding and delivery structures, including Wholly Owned Subsidiaries and other joint venture models, against affordability, value for money, and their accounting consequences.
  • support economic and financial appraisal work underpinning options appraisals and investment decisions; and
  • advise on PFI/PPP contract accounting questions, including IFRS 16, IFRIC 12, and the classification of complex funding and lease structures.
  • produce client-facing deliverables, board papers, and presentations to P2G's house standard.

Your work will span everything from interrogating complex financial models and drafting approval-ready business cases, to developing bespoke models and taking part in complex commercial negotiations.

Who You Are

You are:

  • a technically rigorous accountant or finance professional who wants the answer to be right, not just defensible.
  • comfortable owning a position on a contested accounting question and explaining it to a non-specialist audience.
  • an analytical thinker who can navigate complexity and spot patterns that others miss.
  • a confident communicator able to present numbers and their implications with clarity.
  • meticulous, with excellent attention to detail.
  • proactive and organised, comfortable managing multiple deadlines across live client mandates.
  • someone who is comfortable in Excel day to day, building and maintaining spreadsheets and models to support complex projects.
  • someone who cares about public value, better services, and better outcomes.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • financial modelling experience, including building, auditing, or interrogating complex models.
  • a recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAS, or equivalent), or a strong track record in public sector finance where experience justifies it; and
  • understanding of alternative funding and delivery structures, including Wholly Owned Subsidiaries, joint ventures, and gain-share arrangements, is desirable but not essential.
