The Opportunity
Multiple exciting opportunities have arisen to join a growing Infrastructure Engineering team as an Associate / Principal Infrastructure Engineer. The roles offer the opportunity to lead and develop projects across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure sectors including Rail, Maritime, Asset Management, Temporary Works, Highways, Water, and Aviation.
This is a senior leadership position for an ambitious and highly motivated Chartered Engineer who can combine strong technical expertise with commercial awareness, client relationship management, project leadership, and team development. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future growth of the Infrastructure Engineering business whilst maintaining hands-on involvement in project delivery.
The role will involve working on a varied portfolio of projects including:
- Rail infrastructure, station developments, bridge renewals, and enhancement schemes.
- Maritime and coastal infrastructure, including ports, terminals, flood defence structures, and marine facilities.
- Asset management and condition assessments.
- Temporary works, highways, aviation, and water-sector infrastructure projects.
- Multidisciplinary design and inspection programmes.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Act as Technical Lead across a range of infrastructure projects.
- Provide technical assurance and oversight throughout the project life cycle.
- Review, check, and approve designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Lead inspections, examinations, condition assessments, and scoping visits.
- Ensure compliance with Eurocodes, British Standards, industry guidance, and safety regulations.
- Support practical engineering solutions including defect remediation and repair strategies.

Project & Commercial Management
- Lead projects from inception through to completion.
- Manage budgets, programmes, resources, and project performance.
- Monitor risks, variations, change control, and commercial performance.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Support invoicing, financial forecasting, and commercial reporting activities.
Leadership & People Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineers and graduates.
- Act as a Line Manager and Supervising Civil Engineer.
- Support progression towards Professional Chartership.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with senior leadership to support the growth and capability of the team.
Client Development & Work Winning
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Prepare fee proposals, tenders, and bid submissions.
- Identify opportunities for business growth and service expansion.
- Support presentations, marketing initiatives, case studies, and award submissions.
- Promote the organisation's technical capability to both existing and prospective clients.
Governance, Compliance & Quality
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and health & safety legislation.
- Uphold governance, quality assurance, and business management systems.
- Drive best practice and continuous improvement across project delivery.
- Champion Safety by Design principles throughout all project stages.
About You
We are keen to speak with experienced civil or structural engineers who possess:
- Chartered Engineer status (ICE or IStructE).
- Significant experience delivering complex infrastructure projects within Rail, Maritime, or related sectors.
- Strong project leadership and team management experience.
- Excellent client-facing, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Experience reviewing and approving engineering designs and calculations.
- Strong understanding of Eurocodes, British Standards, and CDM Regulations.
- Experience of multidisciplinary design coordination.
- Commercial awareness and financial management experience.
- Working knowledge of engineering analysis software such as Tekla Tedds, Tekla Structural Designer, Robot, MIDAS, LUSAS, Geo5, or similar.

Desirable:
- Rail CRE(D) experience.
- Experience across Maritime, Temporary Works, Highways, Water, or Aviation sectors.
- Proven experience leading major bids and work-winning activities.
