Position Overview
Responsible for maintaining department inventory, including re-ordering, and stocking of department items. Ensures a high level of food quality and service. Works in partnership with the Store Manager and the Grocery Manager.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Stays within the annual budget for Grocery Department in coordination with the Store Manager
- Follows the Manager’s Code of Conduct
- Ensures that the Co-op’s policies and procedures are enforced and administered in a timely fashion and recommends any changes warranted
- Orchestrates the daily functions of the Grocery Department as needed
- Responsible for Grocery inventory, ordering, and vendor relations
- Responsible for stocking and merchandising all department areas
- Works with Grocery Manager to ensure proper signage and clean, attractive displays and cases
- Conducts or oversees regular meetings and huddles with Grocery Department in the absence of the Grocery Manager
- Maintains Grocery Department sanitation procedures and ensures compliance with governmental regulations
- Monitors and works with Supervisors on rotation of product to ensure product freshness
- Ensures the highest level of customer service, listens to, and responds to complaints and suggestions from all to improve Grocery performance
- Receives and handles call-outs for staff as needed
- Check Co-op email at least once per week
- Set standard for expected behavior in adhering to all food safety procedures
- Participate in department meetings and complete all required trainings for the purpose of maintaining Co-op standards
- Adhere to all Co-op policies, procedures, and employee code of conduct
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required Skills/Experience and Attributes
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of supervisory experience
- Ability to represent the Co-op in a positive manner
- Two plus years and knowledge of local growers and product
- Ability to multi-task
- Proficiency in ECRS POS system and processes
- Set an excellent example for new employees
- Proficiency in use of computer software, Office 365, Excel, and Word
- Serve Safe certification, or ability to obtain certification within 6 months
- Excellent follow through

Equipment Used
- Computer register, scanner, adding machines, computer, knives, box cutters, U-boats, carts, and phone system.
Attendance Requirements
- Flexible hours, including weekend and evening shifts.
- Availability to be scheduled to work any day of the week, according to department needs.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $20.85 to $31.27. This range represents the full earning potential for the role as skills and tenure grow. The expected hiring range is $22.00 to $25.00, which supports internal equity and aligns with current budget parameters, while preserving opportunity for future increases.
