About the role
Support the engineering assurance of outdoor advertising infrastructure, helping ensure third-party designs, installations and handover documentation meet the required technical and safety standards.
The organisation acts as an informed client, with design and installation delivered by external designers and contractors. Working alongside the Head of Engineering Assurance, you will review technical submissions, coordinate queries and changes, and support the acceptance of completed works.
The role is primarily office-based instead of outdoor (hybrid 3 days in office, 2 remote) - focusing on documentation, design review and technical assurance, with occasional site inspections and audits. It offers the opportunity to build assurance expertise from a sound engineering foundation; previous engineering assurance experience is not essential.
Key responsibilities
- Review designs and technical submissions from third-party designers, identifying queries, gaps and matters requiring specialist input.
- Coordinate with contractors, designers and engineering stakeholders, including TfL and Network Rail where relevant, to resolve technical issues.
- Maintain an engineering overview of contractor activity and support alignment with approved designs and project requirements.
- Review technical queries and proposed changes, supporting the appropriate authorisation and recording of decisions.
- Carry out occasional site inspections and audits to support assurance of installation quality and compliance.
- Review handover documentation and health and safety files, supporting their completeness and acceptance into operations.
- Work across engineering disciplines, recognising the limits of your expertise and seeking specialist advice when needed.
- Develop towards independent assurance sign-off, with responsibility initially retained by the Head of Engineering Assurance.

About you
This opportunity would suit an engineer with some initial professional experience who is ready to broaden their skills. Graduates with a strong engineering foundation and the right approach will also be considered.
A sound foundation in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering, gained through relevant study and/or practical experience. Electrical engineering knowledge is particularly relevant.
Civil Engineering backgrounds may also be considered, although the team is particularly keen to strengthen its mechanical and electrical capability.
A broad technical mindset, curiosity and willingness to review work beyond your core discipline.
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to reviewing designs, technical information and documentation.

Useful experience and development
Exposure to design review, technical coordination, construction, infrastructure or engineering assurance would be useful. Previous assurance experience is not a prerequisite, and the role provides scope to develop this knowledge under the guidance of the Head of Engineering Assurance.
SMSTS and NEBOSH qualifications are desirable rather than essential. SMSTS training is provided by the organisation. Candidates with a strong engineering foundation will be considered without existing assurance or health and safety qualifications.
Working arrangements
Hybrid working: three days in the office and two days remotely each week.
Office attendance includes two Mondays and two Fridays each month.
Occasional site visits, typically around twice per month.
Recruitment process
An initial call with the hiring manager is followed by a face-to-face meeting with one or two additional team members. Candidates will usually be asked to deliver a short presentation.
This is a priority appointment, with a start date as soon as practical.
