Join Barclays as an Astronomer Platform Engineer
Play a key role in building, managing, and optimising a modern data orchestration platform that enables reliable, scalable, and secure data workflows across the organisation. You will drive platform excellence, support engineering teams, and help accelerate the delivery of business-critical data solutions.
To be successful as an Astronomer Platform Engineer, you should have experience with:
- Astronomer / Apache Airflow Platform Administration: ensuring reliable orchestration and operational stability of data workflows
- Kubernetes & Cloud Platform Engineering (AWS Preferred): delivering scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructure
- DevOps, CI/CD & Platform Automation: streamlining deployments and improving engineering efficiency through automation

This role is based in Northampton.
Purpose of the Role
To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure.
Accountabilities
- Build and maintain data architecture pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete, and consistent data.
- Design and implement data warehouses and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
- Develop processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
- Collaborate with data scientists to build and deploy machine learning models.
