Job Overview

This post provides administrative and failsafe support to the Trust, with particular focus on supporting the diagnostic imaging medical retina and glaucoma services initially, expanding with trust aims as appropriate.

Main duties of the job

  • You will be expected to have a comprehensive understanding of the work of the service and using your knowledge and initiative, ensure the smooth running of the service.
  • The failsafe officer will need to work with all internal stakeholders to make them aware that the service specific SOPs are followed.
  • The successful candidate will support the operational teams if needed to support the efficient running of diagnostic pathways.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

  • You have excellent knowledge of various asynchronous and virtual pathways for both Glaucoma and Medical retina (including
  • Awareness of the potential obstacles to virtual reviews and appointments, including IT, software packages, duplicate records and uploading delays.
  • Patients referred from the asynchronous pathway receive appointments in line with national waiting time targets, and awareness of the Moorfields team that support with these Targets.
  • Use of failsafe and exception reports and reporting tools to ensure that patients are safely processed through the diagnostic pathway.
  • Clinic outcomes reach the patient, GP, and any other relevant professionals within agreed Trust timeframes
  • A robust failsafe process is in place and is monitored to ensure that no patients are lost to follow up or without an outcome within trust-agreed timeframes

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Good general education including English and Maths to GCSE A-C or equivalent

Desirable criteria

  • Other relevant qualifications

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of working in a busy and demanding customer/patient-facing role
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of managing/supervising a team and effective staff management

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
