Job Description
Anticipated Contract End Date/Length: March 29, 2027
Work Set Up: Hybrid (3 days per week in office)

Our client in the Information Technology and Services industry is looking for an experienced Atlassian Engineer with strong expertise in Jira, Confluence, and the wider Atlassian ecosystem to join a growing technology function. The role will be responsible for the administration, development, optimisation, and ongoing support of Atlassian platforms, ensuring they deliver maximum value to technical and business teams across the organisation.
The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and implementing scalable solutions within Jira and Confluence, driving platform enhancements, automating workflows, and supporting enterprise-wide collaboration. The role will work closely with Technology, Engineering, Delivery, PMO, Risk, and Business stakeholders to ensure the Atlassian toolset aligns with organisational objectives and best practices.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with stakeholder engagement and has a passion for improving team productivity and operational efficiency through modern collaboration platforms.
Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, maintain, and enhance Jira, Jira Service Management, and Confluence environments.
- Design and implement complex workflows, automation rules, issue types, schemes, permissions, and custom configurations.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, filters, and metrics to support business and technology teams.
- Manage system upgrades, integrations, and application lifecycle activities across the Atlassian landscape.
- Collaborate with engineering and delivery teams to implement Agile and DevOps best practices within Jira.
- Support enterprise roadmap planning and governance through effective tool configuration and reporting.
- Integrate Atlassian products with third-party platforms using APIs and connectors where required.
- Provide technical guidance and support to users, ensuring effective adoption of Jira and Confluence capabilities.
- Create and maintain platform documentation, knowledge articles, and operational procedures.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to increase efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Maintain platform security, compliance, access controls, and audit requirements.
- Troubleshoot system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative solutions.
- Participate in platform strategy discussions and contribute to long-term Atlassian roadmap development.
- Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.

Qualifications
- Demonstrate proven experience administering and engineering Atlassian platforms, including Jira and Confluence.
- Apply strong knowledge of Jira workflows, permissions, schemes, screen configurations, and automation capabilities.
- Bring experience with Jira Service Management and Agile project structures.
- Understand Atlassian integrations, REST APIs, webhooks, and Marketplace applications.
- Demonstrate experience delivering platform enhancements within large enterprise environments.
- Apply strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Support Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or DevOps methodologies in technology environments.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrate strong documentation and knowledge-management skills.
- Understand identity and access management principles.
- Bring experience working within regulated and complex environments.
- Hold Atlassian certifications such as ACP, Atlassian Administration, or equivalent, desirable.
- Apply scripting and automation tools such as Groovy, ScriptRunner, PowerShell, or Python, desirable.
- Demonstrate knowledge of cloud migration projects and Atlassian Cloud administration, desirable.
- Bring experience implementing enterprise governance and reporting frameworks, desirable.
- Demonstrate exposure to CI/CD tooling and software development lifecycle processes, desirable.
- Bring financial services or highly regulated industry experience, desirable.
