Wednesbury Oak Academy (SIPS)
Wednesbury Oak Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced and highly effective Attendance Officer to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in improving attendance, supporting families and helping every child thrive.
At our recent inspection, Ofsted recognised that "pupils are at the heart of everything this school does." We are looking for someone who shares this commitment and is passionate about making a difference to children's life chances.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience of working with and supporting families.
- Has a proactive approach to safeguarding and improving attendance.
- Communicates confidently and builds positive relationships with children, parents, staff and external agencies.
- Is organised, efficient and confident using IT systems and school databases.
- Understands the challenges facing children and families today.
- Can work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Is flexible, resilient and committed to achieving the best outcomes for pupils.
The role includes:
- Monitoring and analysing attendance data.
- Following up absences and working with families to improve attendance.
- Coordinating attendance interventions, meetings and home visits.
- Producing attendance reports for leaders and governors.
- Managing statutory attendance processes, including penalty notices and census returns.
- Tracking vulnerable pupils and working closely with safeguarding and pastoral teams.
- Supporting the development and implementation of attendance policies and procedures.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) clearance is required for this role.
You will join a team of friendly supportive professionals in an academy.
This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and is eligible for an enhanced DBS check including a Children's Barring List Check. If you are barred from working with children you are breaking the law if you apply for this post

Hours: 37 hours per week, Term Time plus 1 week
Grade: Grade D, SCP 9 - 17 (£28,153 - £32,046 p.a) Actual Salary- £25,121 - £29,334 p.a.
Location: Wednesbury Oak Academy, Greenacre Road, Tipton, West Midlands, DY4 0AR
