About This Role

Be part of a team where passion meets purpose, as we work together where the challenge is greatest to change the lives and build the futures of children and young people.

At Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy, we are seeking a proactive, compassionate, and resilient Attendance Assistant to join our dedicated Attendance Team. Working closely with the Attendance Officer, Assistant Principal for Attendance, and wider pastoral teams, you will play a key role in promoting excellent attendance, reducing persistent absence, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to access the education they deserve.

You will help build positive relationships with students and families, carrying out welfare checks and home visits, supporting first-day response procedures, and working collaboratively to identify and overcome barriers to attendance. Through your work, you will help create a culture where attendance is valued, expectations are high, and every child feels supported to attend, engage, and succeed.

Key Requirements:

  • Strong literacy, numeracy, communication, and IT skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Confidence working with students, families, and external agencies
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations professionally
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
  • Experience of working in a school attendance or pastoral role (ideal)
  • Relevant transferable skills, resilience, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people
  • Full driving license (essential)

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
