"Pour toucher la retraite au Luxembourg, il faut y travailler au moins dix ans." Si vous avez déjà entendu cette mise en garde, sachez... qu'elle est complètement fausse!
Issu d'une maladresse de communication, cet impératif est en fait une information simplement mal expliquée. En réalité, les droits à la pension sont en réalité débloqués après une année de cotisation au Luxembourg. S'y ajoute une deuxième condition: avoir travaillé au moins dix ans... en Europe (ou dans un pays qui dispose d'un accord avec le Grand-Duché comme la Suisse, l'Islande, les Etats-Unis, etc). Car c'est votre carrière communautaire qui est prise en compte une fois l'âge légal atteint.
À terme, vous percevrez plusieurs retraites, une pour chaque pays dans lequel vous avez travaillé. Par exemple, trois ans au Luxembourg, cinq ans en Allemagne et quatre ans en Belgique font bien 12 ans de carrière communautaire. Si vous n'avez pas atteint ce seuil de dix ans, vous avez droit au remboursement de vos cotisations.
