G J Wisdom & Co Auctioneers, Valuers is a specialist auction house providing on-site and online auction services across industrial, commercial, plant and machinery, vehicles, catering, IT, and general goods sectors.
Role Description
This is a full-time, Auction Assistant role based in Orpington. The Auction Assistant will support the preparation and delivery of auctions, including cataloging items, organizing lots, assisting with photography and descriptions, and setting up auction rooms or online listings. Daily tasks include liaising with clients and buyers, answering inquiries in person, by phone, and via email, and providing clear information on auction processes, terms, and collection arrangements. The role involves assisting with registration, bidding support, and post-sale administration such as invoicing, payment processing, and coordinating collections or deliveries. The Auction Assistant will also help maintain accurate records, support sales and marketing activities, and contribute to a professional, safe, and organized auction environment.

Qualifications
- Experience or strong interest in auctions and online auctions, with the ability to learn auction procedures and platforms quickly.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, buyers, and colleagues.
- Sales awareness, with the ability to support auction promotions and encourage bidder engagement.
- Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy in cataloging, record-keeping, and administrative tasks.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, on-site environment, including some physical tasks such as moving and organizing lots.
- Basic IT skills, including use of email, spreadsheets, and online listing tools; familiarity with auction software is an advantage.
- Previous experience in auctions, retail, logistics, or a customer-facing role is beneficial but not essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small team, with reliability, integrity, and a professional approach to client service.
