The Public Engagement team is responsible for developing and delivering the strategy that will drive significant, long-term audience growth by inspiring and engaging the public to support the work of the NSPCC. This will be achieved through integrated, audience-led, multi-channel marketing approaches, including mass participation, individual giving, and campaigns that generate sustainable support aligned to the NSPCC's strategic priorities.
Alongside income generation, the team plays a vital role in increasing public understanding of abuse and neglect and building advocacy. The team will foster a high-performing, results-driven culture that values collaboration, innovation, and integration. By focusing on excellent supporter relationship management and purposeful engagement, it will deliver long-term, sustainable impact to support the NSPCC's mission.
What is the purpose of the Audience Planning Manager?
The Audience Planning Manager plays a pivotal role in translating audience strategy and engagement priorities into effective campaign and activity plans. The role ensures individual campaigns, products, fundraising propositions and engagement initiatives are targeted, sequenced, delivered and evaluated in ways that maximise audience relevance, engagement and performance.
Working under the direction of the Head of Audience Engagement & Campaign Planning, the post holder acts as the audience planning lead and specialist for all of our engagement activity. The role steers individual campaigns, products and initiatives, focusing minds on our objectives and key results; ensuring decisions about audiences, messages, channels, sequencing and measurement are grounded in insight and learning.

The role will support effective annual campaign planning, helping the organisation develop more specialist strategic planning capability over time. This means the post holder will be expected to apply and share deeper audience understanding, test and learn from activity, and help shape coordinated multi-channel experiences as the audience engagement approach evolves.
What will I be doing as an Audience Planning Manager?
About
This role focuses on translating audience & organisational strategy into practical decisions for the way we engage people across all of our audience facing activity. You will support teams across the organisation to make clear, evidence-informed choices about:
- what activity should be prioritised, for who
- the insight that matters most
- what messages will resonate
- which channels should be used
- how activity should be sequenced
- how success should be measured
- what can be learned and improved.
You will ensure each campaign is at its most effective, whilst also serving the shared engagement objectives.
What skills do I need to be an Audience Planning Manager
- Proven experience in campaign, audience, engagement, fundraising or marketing planning, ideally in a complex multi-channel environment.
- Strong understanding of audience segmentation, targeting and insight, with the ability to apply these to practical campaign and activity decisions.
- Skilled in interpreting qualitative and quantitative data and translating findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Experience supporting annual and individual campaign planning processes including defining audiences, objectives, messages, channels, success measures and evaluation
- Knowledge of engagement channels, supporter journeys, CRM systems and campaign analysis tools.
