Audio Engineer - Games Dialogue / ADR

Location: London Studios

Department: Audio

Reports to: Lead Audio Engineer

Contract Type: 12 month Fixed term contract

About the Role

SIDE is looking for an Audio Engineer to join our London Audio team, working on dialogue recording for a wide variety of video game titles, from indie and mobile projects through to AAA console productions.

This is a technically focused studio engineering role for someone who can combine excellent recording skills with speed, accuracy, and calm professional judgement.

You will engineer dialogue and ADR sessions involving actors, directors, and clients, ensuring sessions run smoothly and that audio and associated assets are captured accurately, efficiently, and to a consistently high standard.

The environment can be fast-moving and demanding. Strong technical capability is therefore only part of the role. You will also need to be comfortable operating in client-facing sessions, remaining composed and technically focused when priorities change, pressure increases, or different stakeholders have competing views.

Games experience is valuable, but it is not essential. We are equally interested in engineers with strong relevant experience from dialogue recording, ADR, voice-over, localisation, dubbing, post-production, broadcast, television, film, or other professional recording environments.

What You'll Be Doing

You will:

  • Engineer recording sessions at our London studios, including wild dialogue and full ADR sessions.
  • Set up, engineer, and run Performance Capture and Facial Capture sessions, including technologies such as MetaHuman, Head Mounted Camera systems, and Reference Camera workflows.
  • Ensure audio, performance, and associated data are captured accurately and in accordance with the project brief.
  • Prepare studio session assets, including audio and video reference material and dialogue scripts.
  • Prepare ADR sessions for your own work and for other engineers.
  • Manage sessions efficiently while maintaining a high level of technical accuracy and recording throughput.
  • Maintain organized and reliable session, file, and asset workflows.
  • Maintain studios and studio equipment where practicable.
  • Contribute to the development of studio services, technical processes, and workflows as part of an international team.
  • Record location audio on set with Motion Capture partners where required.
  • Work closely with clients, directors, talent, and colleagues to support the successful delivery of each session and project.
  • Follow company Security, Confidentiality, Health & Safety, IT, and HR procedures and support compliance with these requirements across the team.
  • Work in a way that reflects appropriate ethical and professional standards and the values of the organization.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We're Looking For

Strong Studio Engineering Capability

You will have strong practical experience engineering professional recording sessions and will be comfortable taking responsibility for the technical operation of a session.

Strong Pro Tools capability is essential. You should be able to work quickly and confidently within the DAW rather than simply being familiar with it.

Experience with other DAWs is useful, and experience with Reaper would be particularly valuable.

You should be highly comfortable with audio, video, and general studio technology and able to work effectively with the technical systems involved in a modern recording environment.

Relevant Recording Experience

You will typically bring 3+ years' experience working as an engineer within a commercial post-production recording studio or similarly relevant professional environment, ideally including dialogue, ADR, or voice recording.

However, we are interested in demonstrated capability as much as years served. Technical competence, learning agility, professional maturity, and your ability to operate effectively in a demanding studio environment are particularly important.

Relevant experience may come from areas including:

  • dialogue recording,
  • voice-over,
  • ADR,
  • localisation and dubbing,
  • post-production,
  • broadcast,
  • television or film dialogue recording,
  • specialist recording studios, or
  • games audio.

Direct games experience is not required if your recording experience and technical capability transfer effectively into this environment.

Speed, Accuracy, and Workflow Discipline

This role requires more than a good creative ear.

You will need to demonstrate that you can maintain:

  • strong technical accuracy;
  • efficient session management;
  • fast and disciplined DAW workflows;
  • organized file and asset handling;
  • consistent performance during high-volume recording; and
  • reliable technical execution during time-sensitive sessions.

You should have a good ear for dialogue and voice while remaining focused on the technical and operational requirements of the session.

Calm, Credible, and Client-Facing

Our engineers often work directly with actors, directors, and clients, sometimes in challenging or high-pressure sessions.

You will need to be someone who remains calm, professional, and technically focused when the room becomes pressured.

We are looking for someone who can communicate clearly, use sound judgment, and handle differing opinions diplomatically without becoming drawn into disagreements.

You should be confident without being arrogant, collaborative without becoming passive, and able to establish credibility with both creative and technical stakeholders.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are important.

Independent and Collaborative

You should be comfortable working independently when required while also contributing effectively as part of the wider Audio team.

You will be able to take direction from senior colleagues, provide appropriate guidance to more junior team members, and contribute wherever required to ensure sessions and projects are delivered successfully.
