Glo AV is looking for an experienced AV & Smart Home Installation Engineer
Glo AV is looking for an experienced AV & Smart Home Installation Engineer to join our team, delivering high-end residential smart-home and audiovisual projects.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who takes real pride in the quality and detail of their work. You will be responsible for completing installations to a consistently high standard, carrying out the necessary testing and checks, and handing systems over in a commission-ready condition.
The role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Installing and mounting TVs, displays, brackets, and automated mounting solutions
- Installing access points, network switches, and other data equipment
- Installing CCTV cameras, intercoms, and door-entry equipment
- Installing speakers and other AV equipment
- Building, wiring, and dressing AV and network racks
- Terminating, patching, labelling, and testing structured cabling
- Installing and terminating lighting-control equipment, including Lutron systems
- Installing smart-home control equipment and associated interfaces
- Working accurately from drawings, schematics, elevations, rack layouts, and cable schedules
- Checking cable routes, terminations, network connections, and signal paths
- Carrying out basic equipment setup and configuration where required
- Fault-finding and resolving installation issues before commissioning
- Completing quality-control checks, installation checklists, and snagging
- Recording site changes and providing accurate as-built information
- Producing clear progress updates, test results, photographs, and handover notes
- Preparing completed systems for handover to the commissioning engineer
- Working professionally with clients, contractors, project managers, and other trades
- Maintaining a safe, tidy, and organised working environment

Our engineers normally undertake cable checking, testing, termination, equipment installation, and system preparation. The role does not generally involve running the main first-fix cabling on new-build projects, although checking the quality and suitability of installed cabling is an important part of the position.
What we are looking for
The right person will have:
- Practical experience in residential AV, smart-home, or related technical installations
- Strong structured-cabling, termination, patching, and testing skills
- Good knowledge of IP networking, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi
- An understanding of IP addressing, network switches, and VLANs
- Experience installing TVs, speakers, access points, CCTV, and rack equipment
- The ability to read and work accurately from technical drawings and documentation
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Excellent cable management, labelling, and installation standards
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks
- A methodical approach to testing, checking, and documenting completed work
- Good time management and the ability to communicate delays or problems early
- A professional and respectful approach when working in high-end residential properties
- A full UK driving licence
- The right to work in the UK
- Flexibility to travel to project sites and occasionally stay away, where required

Systems experience
Experience with the following would be particularly valuable:
- Lutron HomeWorks QSX
- Data networking and Wi-Fi systems
- UniFi or other managed networking platforms
- CCTV and door-entry systems
- Savant
- Control4, Crestron Home, or similar control systems
- Distributed audio
- Lighting-control panels
- Motorised blinds, curtains, and TV mechanisms
- AV racks and associated equipment
Strong Lutron, networking, and practical installation experience are the main priorities. Savant knowledge would be a definite advantage, but full programming experience is not essential for this role.
CEDIA qualifications, manufacturer training, ECS/CSCS cards, or relevant electrical and data qualifications would be beneficial but are not essential.
The right person
We are looking for more than someone who can simply install the equipment. You should be someone who checks their work, keeps installations tidy, understands what “commission-ready” means, and leaves every system in a condition that the commissioning engineer can confidently take forward.
You will be reliable, hardworking, technically capable, and willing to take responsibility for delivering a properly finished installation.
