An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Audio Visual Technician to join the onsite technical team at a prestigious, high-profile venue in Central London.

Working as part of an established AV and events team, you will provide professional technical support across a busy environment encompassing meetings, conferences, presentations, hybrid sessions, and live events.

This is a hands-on position involving the setup, operation, and maintenance of professional audio, video, lighting, conferencing, and event production technology, alongside providing a first-class service to clients and internal stakeholders.

Salary: Up to £34,500

The Role

As Audio Visual Technician, you will:

  • Set up, operate, and dismantle professional AV equipment for meetings, conferences, and live events.
  • Provide technical support across meeting rooms, conference spaces, and larger live event environments.
  • Complete daily checks of AV-equipped rooms to ensure systems are fully operational and ready for use.
  • Provide first-line technical assistance to clients, including laptop connectivity, presentation systems, displays, Wi-Fi, and video conferencing.
  • Set up and operate fixed and portable AV equipment across multiple event spaces.
  • Operate digital audio mixing consoles and set up wired and wireless microphone systems.
  • Provide audio feeds and technical support for filming and camera crews.
  • Support professional projection, video switching, PTZ camera, and presentation systems.
  • Assist with video conferencing, hybrid events, live streaming, and recording requirements.
  • Work alongside IT and technical teams regarding networking, LAN connectivity, and event technology requirements.
  • Support lighting requirements, including DMX-controlled and automated lighting systems.
  • Move and allocate AV equipment between event spaces depending on operational requirements.
  • Assist with AV equipment inventory, stock control, and general equipment management.
  • Troubleshoot AV faults and technical issues quickly and effectively.
  • Liaise with clients before and during events to understand and deliver their technical requirements.
  • Work alongside and provide technical guidance to third-party AV, production, and staging contractors.
  • Maintain technical areas, equipment stores, and AV control rooms to a professional standard.
  • Follow Health & Safety procedures and support the completion of risk assessments and safe working practices.
  • Identify and report technical, operational, and safety issues when required.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of AV services, systems, and event delivery.

About You

We are looking for someone with a strong technical AV background combined with excellent customer service skills.

You will ideally have:

  • Professional experience working as an AV Technician, Event Technician, Venue Technician, or similar.
  • Proven experience setting up and dismantling AV equipment within live event environments.
  • Strong knowledge of professional audio, video, projection, and conferencing technology.
  • Experience operating digital audio mixing consoles.
  • Experience setting up wired and wireless microphone systems.
  • Knowledge of professional projection and video switching systems.
  • Experience operating PTZ camera systems.
  • Good understanding of video conferencing and collaboration technology.
  • Knowledge of live streaming, filming, or recording workflows would be advantageous.
  • A good understanding of IT connectivity and LAN/networking fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of DMX and automated lighting systems.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
  • An understanding of Health & Safety requirements within an AV or live events environment.
  • Experience with risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • The ability to remain calm and resolve technical problems in time-sensitive live environments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a wider technical team.

Working Environment

This is a hands-on, client-facing position within a busy professional events environment. You will regularly support a mixture of corporate meetings, conferences, and live productions, so no two days will be exactly the same.

Due to the nature of events, flexibility will be required around working hours, which may occasionally include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

This is an excellent opportunity for an AV professional looking to develop their career within an established technical team while gaining exposure to a broad range of professional AV and live event technologies.
