The Opportunity
An established and growing accountancy practice in Aberdeen is looking to appoint a part-qualified Audit Associate to join its expanding audit team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious audit professional who has already gained experience within an accountancy practice and is looking to continue developing their audit career in a role offering broad client exposure, structured development and clear progression.
You'll work alongside experienced Seniors, Managers and Directors, gaining hands-on experience across a varied portfolio of clients while continuing towards your professional qualification.
The Role
As a Part-Qualified Audit Associate, you'll support the delivery of audit assignments across a diverse client portfolio, developing your technical knowledge and taking increasing responsibility as your experience grows.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the planning and completion of external audit assignments.
- Carrying out audit fieldwork across a variety of client engagements.
- Preparing high-quality audit working papers and supporting documentation.
- Performing substantive and controls-based audit procedures.
- Testing key areas of the financial statements and investigating variances or unusual items.
- Assisting with the preparation and review of financial statements.
- Working closely with Seniors and Managers to ensure audits are completed efficiently and within deadlines.
- Liaising with clients to obtain information and supporting documentation.
- Developing an understanding of clients' businesses, systems and processes.
- Identifying potential issues and raising these with senior members of the team.
- Supporting junior colleagues and contributing to a positive team environment.
- Gaining exposure to more complex audit areas as your experience develops.
- Assisting with other accounts and advisory work where required.

The role will provide the opportunity to work on different types of audits and develop a well-rounded understanding of both audit and wider accountancy practice.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Currently working within an accountancy practice.
- Experienced in external audit.
- Part-qualified ACA or ACCA, or actively studying towards a relevant qualification.
- Keen to continue developing their technical audit knowledge.
- Comfortable working directly with clients and building professional relationships.
- Organised and able to manage competing deadlines.
- Commercially aware with good attention to detail.
- A strong communicator who works well as part of a team.
- Ambitious and motivated to progress their career within practice.
Candidates who are qualified by experience or who have made strong progress through their professional studies will also be considered.
