I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Almost all of our work culminates in analysing something complex, breaking it down into something simple, understanding it, explaining it, and writing a meaningful and constructive report. We want people to help us do this, and to do it well. We are keen to meet and invest in bright, energetic, analytical, mathematical, open-minded and diligent students. Recent Global events have shone a bright light on the brittleness of our understanding of the contours of risk. In this regard, looking beyond 2024, we have made and continue to make assessments on upstream areas for our clients such as climate change, diversity and inclusion, operational resilience, cyber, liquidity, and staff well-being.
Rewards and Benefits
We offer a highly competitive reward structure including excellent salaries and an attractive package of core benefits, which we review regularly to ensure we remain competitive. Our benefits include:
- Competitive market-based salary
