Simpson Judge are working with a growing Top 60 accountancy firm in Manchester to appoint an Audit Manager as part of the continued expansion of its audit team.

This is a genuine growth opportunity rather than a role simply replacing someone who has left. The audit team has grown from 6 to 25 people over the last 18 months, with fees increasing from approximately £550k to £2.5m. The next stage of that growth is bringing in an experienced Audit Manager who can take ownership of a portfolio, develop the team and work towards Responsible Individual status over time.

The opportunity

You’ll join a predominantly OMB-focused audit practice, working closely with the Head of Audit, Senior Managers and RI across a varied portfolio of clients.

The role will give you responsibility for:

• Managing a portfolio of audit clients with individual fees of up to £500k
• Leading audits from planning through to completion
• Reviewing audit files and ensuring work meets the required technical and quality standards
• Managing budgets, WIP, billing and recoverability across your portfolio
• Acting as a key point of contact for clients and developing strong long-term relationships
• Leading and developing Assistant Managers, Seniors and junior members of the team
• Supporting tenders, pitches and wider business development activity
• Working closely with the wider Tax, Accounts and Advisory teams to identify opportunities for clients
• Supporting the continued growth and development of the Manchester audit function
