Audit Manager

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Audit Manager to join a well-established professional services organisation offering a varied client portfolio, hybrid working, and the opportunity to make a genuine impact within a supportive team environment. Based in Sittingbourne, this permanent role is ideal for an experienced audit professional looking to take ownership of assignments, develop client relationships, and progress their career.

The Role

This Audit Manager position offers the chance to work with a diverse range of clients while leading audit engagements from planning through to completion. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality services, supporting junior team members, and helping shape the continued success of a growing accountancy business.

The successful candidate will enjoy a role that combines technical expertise, client interaction, team leadership, and commercial awareness. You will be trusted to manage your own portfolio, identify opportunities, and provide practical advice that supports clients' long-term goals.

What you'll be doing

  • Managing a portfolio of audit clients, ensuring assignments are completed accurately, efficiently, and within agreed deadlines
  • Leading audit planning, fieldwork, completion processes, and file reviews in line with professional standards
  • Building strong working relationships with clients and acting as a trusted point of contact
  • Reviewing work completed by junior team members and providing guidance, coaching, and development support
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practice requirements
  • Assisting with proposals and supporting business development activity where required
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and enhance client service delivery
  • Preparing and presenting professional advice to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Supporting the wider team within a collaborative accountancy environment

What we're looking for

  • ACA or ACCA qualified with experience gained within practice
  • Strong external audit experience across a varied client portfolio
  • Experience managing assignments from planning through to completion
  • Previous responsibility for supervising, mentoring, or developing junior colleagues
  • Good knowledge of UK auditing standards, FRS 102, and IFRS
  • Confident communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to understand client needs
  • A proactive, organised, and resilient approach to managing workloads
  • Experience working with charities or not-for-profit organisations would be advantageous
