Audit Manager Opportunity in Rochester

TPF Recruitment is recruiting for an Audit Manager to join a growing firm of chartered accountants based in Rochester. This is an excellent opportunity to manage a varied audit portfolio, develop your team and build your career within a practice offering a clear route towards Responsible Individual status.

The firm takes a practical approach to work life balance, with careful resource planning and realistic deadlines. Additional hours may occasionally be needed during busy periods, but regular late working is not the expectation.

As an Audit Manager, you’ll oversee assignments from planning through to completion, build strong client relationships and work closely with the firm’s senior leadership on technical matters and the development of the audit department.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of audit clients across a range of sectors, overseeing assignments from planning through to completion.
  • Ensuring audits meet relevant professional standards, agreed budgets, and deadlines.
  • Leading audit planning and completion meetings.
  • Reviewing audit files and working papers before final RI review.
  • Reviewing statutory accounts for compliance with relevant accounting standards and disclosure requirements.
  • Acting as the main contact for clients and providing practical responses to technical and commercial queries.
  • Identifying significant audit matters and discussing recommendations with the RI.
  • Planning workloads, allocating resources, and addressing staffing requirements.
  • Coaching and developing colleagues, providing technical guidance, and supporting their progression.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
