Job Description
Audit Manager – Belfast
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Audit Manager to join our Belfast Audit team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant who is keen to work with a diverse portfolio of clients while leading audit engagements, developing team members, and building strong client relationships.
The successful candidate will be proactive, commercially aware, and capable of managing multiple engagements while maintaining the highest standards of quality and client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage audit engagements from planning through to completion, ensuring delivery within agreed budgets and timelines.
- Plan, coordinate, and review audit assignments for a varied portfolio of clients across multiple sectors.
- Prepare and oversee audit strategies, risk assessments, and audit programmes tailored to client requirements.
- Review financial statements and audit files, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, auditing standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the audit process, providing practical and commercially focused advice.
- Manage, coach, and develop audit team members, supporting their professional and technical development.
- Monitor engagement progress, identifying and resolving technical and operational issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure all audit work is completed in line with the firm's quality standards and risk management procedures.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to a high level of client satisfaction.
- Identify opportunities for additional services and support business development activities with existing and prospective clients.
- Assist Partners and Directors with the management and growth of the audit practice.
Skills, Knowledge And Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification).
- Minimum of 5 years' audit experience, ideally gained within a professional services environment.
- Proven experience managing a portfolio of clients and leading audit engagements.
- Strong technical knowledge of auditing and financial reporting standards.
- Experience working with a broad range of clients across different sectors.
- Commercially aware with the ability to understand client needs and deliver practical solutions.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work independently using your own initiative.
- Experience gained in a Big 4 or other leading professional services firm would be advantageous, but is not essential.
