We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our Global Internal Audit team as Audit Manager – Data, AI and Group Functions Technology, based in the Sheffield, UK.

In this role, you’ll support the Head of Audit and Senior Audit Managers in delivering independent, objective assurance over technology risk, governance and control frameworks. You’ll lead technology coverage across integrated audits, assess business automated controls and IT General Controls, and contribute to reviews of significant projects and systems, including Data and Artificial Intelligence.

You’ll work across Group Functions Technology and partner with stakeholders to identify root causes, provide constructive challenge and deliver pragmatic recommendations that strengthen HSBC’s control environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead technology coverage across integrated audits within Group Functions Technology.
  • Assess the design and operating effectiveness of business automated controls and IT General Controls supporting key business processes.
  • Contribute to technical audits covering significant projects and systems, including Data and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Identify key business and operational risks, control deficiencies and their root causes.
  • Apply risk-based auditing techniques to plan and execute audit assignments effectively.
  • Produce high-quality audit issues and reports containing clear, practical and pragmatic recommendations.
  • Manage the integrated audit portfolio through effective resource allocation and timely delivery.
  • Maintain flexibility across the audit plan while managing competing priorities.
  • Collaborate with audit teams to develop the use of data analytics, agile techniques and other innovations.
  • Maintain and enhance stakeholder relationships through regular engagement and appropriate challenge in business risk governance forums.
  • Keep up to date with relevant business, regulatory and industry developments.
  • Support team leadership by acting as a role model for junior colleagues and fostering an open, inclusive and collaborative working culture.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • A degree-level education, with relevant professional qualifications such as CIA, CISA, ITIL, CISSP or CISM preferred.
  • Experience in Technology Audit, Technology Risk, Controls Assurance or a related risk and control environment.
  • Knowledge of IT General Controls, technology controls and audit testing methodologies.
  • Several years’ experience in a relevant area, such as Technology Audit, Internal Audit, Assurance, Enterprise Risk Management, Chief Controls Office, Compliance or Information Security.
  • A solid understanding of technology and data-management risks and controls, including business automated controls.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical capability, with the confidence to assess unfamiliar areas thoroughly and identify the key risks and control considerations quickly.
  • The ability to manage multiple competing priorities across concurrent audits and projects.
  • A collaborative approach and a clear commitment to helping the wider team achieve its objectives.
