Audit Manager | North West

Manchester | Greater Manchester | Lancashire | Cheshire | Merseyside

If you’re an Audit Manager considering your next move, I’m currently working with a wide range of accountancy practices across the North West, including Top 20 firms, Top 50 firms, and some of the strongest regional independent and up-and-coming practices.

Although I can only advertise one vacancy at a time, the reality is that the audit market changes every week.

So if this advert has caught your attention, it’s worth having a conversation. I may have the right opportunity for you now, or I may be speaking to a firm next week that is exactly what you’re looking for.

What are we looking for?

For the Audit Manager opportunities I’m currently working on, firms are typically looking for people who can:

  • Manage a portfolio of external audit clients
  • Take responsibility for audits from planning through to completion
  • Manage audit teams and allocate work effectively
  • Review audit files and ensure work is completed to the required standard
  • Build strong relationships with clients and act as a key point of contact
  • Support, coach, and develop junior and qualified members of the audit team
  • Manage budgets, deadlines, and WIP
  • Identify opportunities to add value to clients and develop wider relationships
  • Work closely with Partners and Directors on more complex assignments
  • Contribute to the continued development and growth of the audit department

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You’ll ideally be ACA or ACCA qualified with strong external audit experience gained within an accountancy practice.

Most of my clients are particularly interested in people coming from Top 20, Top 50, and strong regional independent practices.

If you’re currently within the Big Four, please don't let that stop you applying. There may still be opportunities that suit your background. You will need full right to work in the UK without sponsorship.

What sort of firms am I working with?

There isn't one standard Audit Manager opportunity. My clients work with everything from owner-managed businesses and large SMEs through to substantial corporate organizations and groups.

Depending on what you enjoy, I can introduce you to firms where audit cycles might typically be 8 to 12 weeks, through to businesses working on much larger audits lasting 20 to 30+ weeks. That means we can look at more than salary and job title. We can look at the type of clients you want to work with, size of firm, culture, flexibility, progression, and where you ultimately want your career to go.

Why speak to me before you see the perfect advert?

Because some of the best Audit Manager opportunities never make it to an advert. I'm speaking with practices across the North West every week. New vacancies come in, roles change, firms decide they'll create an opportunity for the right person, and sometimes positions are filled before they're ever publicly advertised.

Alongside Audit Manager positions, I'm regularly picking up opportunities for Audit Seniors, Assistant Managers, Senior Managers, Audit Directors, and RIs.

The market may be slightly quieter than it was a year or two ago, but there is still plenty happening in audit.

Considering a move?

You don't need to have made the decision to leave your current firm. If you're simply wondering what else is out there, that's enough reason to have a confidential conversation.

Tell me what would make a move worthwhile, and I'll tell you what I'm seeing across the market. If I've got it, great.

If I haven't, there's every chance I know who we should be speaking to.
