Audit Manager

We are currently recruiting for an Audit Manager to join our team based in Stoke Central. This role will help to develop the operational capabilities of our highly regarded audit team to enable the division to continue to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Audit and Assurance

  • Manage a portfolio of audit and assurance clients across a range of sectors.
  • Lead audit engagements from planning through to completion and sign-off.
  • Review audit files and working papers to ensure compliance with relevant auditing standards and firm methodologies.
  • Assess audit risks and develop appropriate audit strategies.
  • Review statutory financial statements prepared under relevant accounting frameworks including FRS 102, FRS 105, IFRS and Charities SORP where applicable.
  • Ensure all assignments are delivered within agreed budgets and deadlines.
  • Resolve complex accounting and auditing issues arising during assignments.
  • Monitor engagement profitability and recoverability.

Client Relationship Management

  • Act as the primary contact for a portfolio of clients.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Attend client meetings and present audit findings and recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional services to clients.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to client queries.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Manage, coach and mentor audit seniors, semi-seniors and trainees.
  • Delegate work effectively and monitor team performance.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support recruitment, training and staff development initiatives.
  • Promote a positive team culture and encourage continuous improvement.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA UK) and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain high levels of audit quality and professional scepticism.
  • Support internal quality reviews and external regulatory inspections.
  • Keep up to date with developments in accounting, auditing and company law.

The ideal candidate for the role will have:

  • Strong technical ability with all-round practice experience including audit and accounting
  • Good communication skills to develop and grow the business
  • Effective management style with proven success in identifying and progressing new talent
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Charity experience (Preferred)
  • Qualified for 2 to 3 years
