I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You can be ACA/ACCA Qualified and ideally from either a mid-Tier or small independent (2-10 Partner) firm with a large portfolio in Audit where you are an RI. My client will only look at a Big 4 candidate if you work predominantly with non-listed corporate clients.

You could be an experienced RI Director looking to step up to Partner or a Partner looking to spearhead their Reading office and manage a significant portfolio of clients, teams, and have a platform to grow further. You will have significant investment behind you to hire staff, marketing, and upscaling the methodology and infrastructure to your choice.

There would be a slight preference for an individual in the Thames Valley area, but a candidate relocating that meets the above criteria would certainly be considered, and the role is just 30 minutes from London.

My client is ambitious and be giving you the backing to be a Thames Valley Assurance leader and even grow other Advisory businesses alongside this of your choosing.

There is a flexible hybrid model with lots of scope of working from home, and flexible hours in a friendly, down-to-earth environment with a mature view on work-life balance for all staff.

Interviews are as soon as possible with Managing Partners (not dealing with HR and go straight to Board Partners with this role) and can be via Teams initially.
