Audit Semi Senior

As an Audit Semi Senior, you will be continuing your professional studies while developing a greater understanding of Affinia, its clients, and the various services we offer. We will continue to help you develop your softer skills, such as active listening, communication skills, and time management. We provide access to technical resources via platforms such as Tolley’s, Mercia, and Croner-i, and LinkedIn Learning for soft skills training as well as a variety of other topics. Together with your line manager, you’ll craft a development plan that’s bespoke to you.

As a Semi-Senior, you will have a greater focus on completing timesheets and understanding /adhering to our WIP process and policy. You will be able to support your managers on their portfolio of clients, both in the work they are doing and in the relationships they are maintaining. You will learn about risk management and compliance and be able to understand and explain these concepts.

Accountabilities

  • Develop understanding of auditing standards (ISA) and IFRS/FRS 102.
  • Continue studying for mid-stage qualifications and gain technical expertise.
  • Understand Affinia's history and different departments, able to explain them to others.
  • Help prepare draft accounts and review disclosures in reference to the applicable checklist.
  • Discuss and agree any potential audit journals with the audit senior during fieldwork.
  • Raise any potential time overruns with the audit senior as they are identified.
  • Be responsible for clearing review points and addressing any follow up queries until the date of the audit report is signed.
  • Support your manager and team in preparing for client meetings, enhancing your own direct client contact.
  • Manage time effectively and maintain timesheets accurately.
  • Complete WIP and timesheets accurately and on time, as per company policy.
  • Demonstrate understanding of risk management and compliance.
  • Ensure work is delivered in line with expectations, i.e. on time and accurate.
  • Continue to learn from senior colleagues and apply feedback received.
  • Start providing support to Trainees throughout the audit process, as required.

Skills/Qualifications

Key characteristics include strong diligence, problem solving and communication skills, a professional approach to clients and colleagues, and a firm commitment to providing top quality client services.

  • Existing/recent entry level work experience in the accounting profession is preferred, but not essential. We will provide access to the required professional training including exams.
  • A Levels (or equivalent) are not essential but may be advantageous, particularly in English and Maths.
  • 5 GCSEs grades 9-4 (A*-C) with (Maths and English Language preferred) or equivalent.
  • Interested in working with people, and able to build relationships and networks.
  • Eager to continue professional studies, including taking exams.
  • Ability to respond and be reactive to shifting priorities at short notice.
  • Have clear written and spoken communication.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask under pressure.
