Audit Senior - East London

A strong opportunity has arisen for an experienced audit professional to join a well-established and growing accountancy practice, with the role offering a blend of client exposure, technical responsibility and genuine career progression.

Based in East London, this is a hybrid position suited to an ACA or equivalent qualified professional who enjoys working closely with clients and taking ownership of audit assignments. You'll have the opportunity to work across a varied portfolio while developing your leadership and commercial skills.

The Role

As an Audit Senior - East London, you'll take responsibility for delivering audits from planning through to completion, working closely with managers and partners while supporting and developing more junior team members.

The position provides considerable client interaction and the chance to gain exposure to a broad range of organisations, including groups, international businesses and specialist sectors. You'll be expected to exercise sound judgement, identify risks and communicate practical solutions throughout each assignment.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Planning, completing and finalising audit assignments for manager and partner review.
  • Working directly with clients to understand their operations, risks and wider business needs.
  • Identifying audit and technical issues and escalating significant matters appropriately.
  • Reviewing work, highlighting key findings and suggesting practical solutions.
  • Monitoring assignments against agreed budgets and investigating any variances.
  • Supervising, coaching and supporting junior members of the audit team.
  • Building strong relationships with senior client contacts throughout the audit process.
  • Ensuring assignments comply with relevant legislation, professional standards, internal methodology and risk management requirements.
  • Keeping up to date with changes across the market, regulation and professional standards.

What We're Looking For

You'll ideally be ACA/ICAS qualified, newly qualified, or hold an equivalent overseas qualification, with solid experience gained within professional accountancy services.

We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Previous audit experience within a professional practice environment.
  • Experience supervising and developing junior team members.
  • Strong understanding of audit procedures, risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Confidence dealing with senior stakeholders and challenging audit issues.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of current economic and market developments.
  • Experience working with charities, including SORP-related audit work, would be highly advantageous.
  • Exposure to listed companies or international groups would also be beneficial.
  • A degree-level education or equivalent professional qualifications.
