Audit Senior / Assistant Manager | Canterbury or Chatham | Hybrid | £55,000–£60,000

Ready for the next step in your audit career? If you're recently qualified, an experienced Audit Senior, or already operating at Assistant Manager level and looking for a role where you can take more ownership, this could be a great opportunity to make your next move.

We're working with a highly regarded professional services firm that has built a strong reputation for quality, client service, and investing in its people.

This is a role where you'll get plenty of client exposure, take responsibility for your own assignments, and work alongside experienced Managers, Directors, and Partners — without being left to figure everything out yourself.

What you'll be doing

You'll play an important role in delivering audits from planning through to completion, working across a varied client portfolio, and becoming a trusted point of contact for your clients.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Taking ownership of key areas of audit assignments, from planning and fieldwork through to completion.
  • Managing your workload effectively to meet deadlines, budgets, and quality expectations.
  • Tackling more complex audit areas and knowing when to involve senior colleagues.
  • Reviewing accounts and helping clients work through queries and issues.
  • Building strong relationships with clients and becoming a reliable contact throughout the audit process.
  • Supporting the management of a portfolio of clients and helping maintain strong, long-term relationships.
  • Identifying where clients could benefit from additional expertise and connecting them with the right specialists.
  • Delegating work to junior team members and making sure assignments stay on track.
  • Coaching and supporting less experienced colleagues, helping them build confidence and develop their technical skills.
  • Getting involved in fee, WIP, and budget management and developing your commercial understanding.
  • Keeping your technical knowledge up to date and maintaining high standards of audit quality.
  • Supporting tenders, proposals, and wider business development activity as you gain experience.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

Why consider it?

This is more than just another audit position where you're handed a file and told to get on with it.

You'll have genuine client contact, increasing responsibility, and the opportunity to build a career rather than simply complete assignments.

You'll work closely with senior members of the team, giving you exposure to a broad range of clients and the chance to learn from people who have been where you are now.

The firm also places real emphasis on development, collaboration, and giving people the opportunity to progress.

You'll benefit from:

  • £55,000–£60,000 salary, depending on experience
  • Hybrid working
  • Canterbury or Chatham location
  • Strong exposure to clients and senior stakeholders
  • Clear opportunities for career progression
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Opportunities to develop your commercial and business development skills
  • A varied client portfolio rather than the same audit on repeat

What we're looking for

You'll ideally be ACA, ACCA, ICAS, or similarly qualified, although newly qualified candidates with the right experience will be considered.

We're looking for someone with previous external audit experience gained within professional practice who is ready to take on greater responsibility.

You'll be a strong fit if you:

  • Have solid audit and technical accounting knowledge.
  • Are comfortable dealing directly with clients.
  • Can manage your own workload and juggle competing deadlines.
  • Have experience reviewing work or supporting junior colleagues.
  • Communicate confidently with both clients and internal teams.
  • Take pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Are commercially minded and interested in developing your client management skills.
  • Want to progress towards a more senior role rather than staying in the same place.

Your next move? If you're looking for an audit role that gives you more responsibility, more client exposure, and a genuine opportunity to progress, we'd be happy to have a confidential conversation.

No complicated process. No hard sell. Just a straightforward discussion about what you're looking for and whether this could be the right next step.

Please note: Candidates must have the existing and unrestricted right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, this role does not offer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
