Referment is working with…

a regional accountancy and advisory practice serving mainly family-owned and owner-managed businesses across a range of sectors. It is seeking an experienced audit leader to take responsibility for a substantial client portfolio and play a senior role in audit quality, team performance and client service.

This position sits above client-management level and works closely with the practice’s senior leadership. You will remain close to audit delivery while also shaping workflow, developing colleagues and helping clients understand the wider commercial issues around their accounts and controls.

The Role

  • Lead the planning, risk assessment and completion of audit assignments across a varied portfolio.
  • Act as the senior client contact, presenting audit outcomes and building trusted relationships with business owners and directors.
  • Review audit files, resolve significant technical matters and report key findings to senior stakeholders.
  • Oversee assignment budgets, deadlines, resourcing and quality standards.
  • Lead and develop managers, seniors, assistants and trainees through coaching, feedback and appropriate work allocation.
  • Maintain compliance with UK auditing standards and contribute to quality-control and methodology improvements.
  • Work with tax and accounts specialists so clients receive joined-up advice beyond the immediate audit.
  • Contribute to proposals, tenders and the continued development of the audit service.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
