Description
Our Romford team supports a diverse range of clients across multiple sectors, from family-run and owner-managed businesses to private equity-backed multinationals.
This role would suit a recently qualified audit professional looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and growing firm. You'll have the opportunity to build on your audit experience, develop your leadership skills and gain greater exposure to a varied client portfolio while working closely with experienced partners and directors.
You will be part of a tight-knit team, delivering client-focused and commercially aware services in an efficient and professional manner. You'll work with a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses, growing SMEs and larger corporate groups across a broad range of sectors.
You will mentor, train and support junior team members, helping them develop and progress in their careers, with the opportunity to become involved in formal training initiatives if desired.
You will also play an active role in developing client relationships, identifying business development opportunities and promoting the firm's services, with the opportunity to specialise in sectors that align with your interests and career goals.

Key Responsibilities
- Leading audits from planning through to completion, including fieldwork, review and finalisation
- Responsibility for achieving agreed budgets and meeting deadlines
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements under FRS 102, FRS 102 1A and other relevant accounting frameworks
- Delivery of a complete audit file for manager review
- Supervision of the audit team on-site, which includes reviewing the work of juniors and assisting junior team members with technical accounting and audit questions
- Experience in both substantive & controls-based audits
- Drafting recommendations to management following audit fieldwork completion
- Drafting of close out audit meeting agenda and points for discussion
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders, including regular interaction with Partners and Directors
- Promoting the interests of the firm with all employed by the firm, clients, prospective clients and other third parties
- Delivering a high-quality, professional and responsive service to clients
- Any other special work as required e.g. benchmarking reports, management information reviews & proposal pitches
- Working alongside Managers, to assist and supervise junior team members
- Attending client gatherings or client seminars on an ad hoc basis
- Identifying business development opportunities with clients and progressing these in liaison with partner/director
- Internal networking to get to know your team and the wider firm including specialist services

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
- Experience leading audits for a range of owner-managed businesses, SMEs and larger corporate clients
- Strong experience delivering substantive and controls-based audit assignments
- Good knowledge of UK accounting standards and financial reporting frameworks
- Experience of Caseware, CCH Accounts Production, Xero accounting, Quickbooks and Alphatax, Office 365 would be desirable
- High level of personal motivation
- Excellent communicator- able to get on with clients and your team
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to use initiative
- Adaptable and able to manage competing priorities effectively
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Confident communicator, able to build rapport quickly and establish credibility with clients
