Mid Kent Audit Partnership
Mid Kent Audit Partnership provides internal audit and assurance services to four Kent local authorities: Maidstone, Swale, Ashford and Tunbridge Wells. We are a forward-thinking team focused on adding value and driving improvement across our partner organisations.
Role Overview
We are looking for an Auditor or Senior Auditor to join our friendly and professional team. The role of Auditor offers the opportunity to deliver assurance and consultancy audits across a wide range of council services, as well as contributing to risk management, counter fraud activities and special projects.
As a Senior Auditor, you will also review the work of colleagues and support the delivery of annual audit plans. Strong communication skills, adaptability and a collaborative approach are essential.
Our team works closely with officers, senior leaders and elected Members, providing constructive challenge and trusted advice to help drive positive organisational change.
This role is being offered on a full time, permanent basis. The role offers the benefit of hybrid working, combining office-based working across the partnership together with home working, according to business needs.
About You
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Auditor looking to develop their career, or for an established Senior or Principal Auditor seeking a new challenge within a shared service environment.
You will have experience in internal audit and ideally hold a CIA qualification or equivalent professional qualification or experience. You will be self-motivated, organised and able to manage multiple priorities while working independently or as part of a team.
You will also have:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Gravitas and effective communication and negotiation skills with people at every level within the organization.
- Ability to clarify tasks, plan work in advance over the medium term, and prioritise to achieve deadlines.
- Good analytical, research and presentation abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and audit management systems.

Selection Process
Following the submission of your application form, it will be reviewed by the recruiting manager. Those that are successful in securing an interview can expect job-specific interview assessment on the day, followed by an interview.

The Council considers that the successful applicant will have access to the Government’s secure network and will need to have a Baseline Personnel Security Standard check completed. In addition to the normal pre-employment checks, this requires a criminal record check for unspent convictions and verification of employment history for the preceding 3 years. Where the 3 years of employment history cannot be verified through the most recent employment reference, you will need to provide a copy of your HMRC PAYE record for the 3-year period and will need to explain the reasons for any gaps in employment.
