We’re currently looking for a number of Authorisation Officers on a full-time, fixed-term contract basis for 6 months. This position sits within the Authorisation team. We are flexible on home and office working with the Glasgow office being the business location.
An Authorisation Officer is part of the Practice Regulation Directorate and the Governance Executive Directorate and plays a vital part in ensuring ACCA’s statutory recognition for audit is maintained, supporting ACCA’s strategic delivery plan of achieving and promoting the highest professional, ethical, and governance standards. This is an excellent opportunity to expand knowledge and remit in this vital part of the business.
The Job
Reporting to the Authorisation team Leader, on a day-to-day basis, you’ll be involved in the following:
- Primarily responsible for undertaking assessment work, specifically to review member eligibility to hold a non-audit practising certificate.
- Assess practising certificate experience forms, ensuring members have completed the necessary requirements and the training records in line with ACCA procedures and policies.
- Ensure work in progress (WIP) tracker is always kept up to date, to ensure visibility of all pending work.
- Ensure accurate processing of annual renewals of practising certificates with financial payments.
- Ensure the highest quality of customer service is always provided, answering emails, correspondence, and telephone calls from members providing excellent technical knowledge of matters relating to public practice.
- Administration of key information of ACCA’s practising member and firm databases.
- Performing Regulator to Regulator status checks.
- Processing various other application forms in line with ACCA policies and procedures.

The Person
We’re looking for someone who:
- Able to demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge, sound judgement, and initiative within complex situations and make appropriate and measured decisions.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers at all levels.
- Highly organised, logical, and methodical approach to work with very strong analytical skills and with an emphasis on attention to detail.
- Able to multi-task and experience of dealing with a high workload and working to tight deadlines with competing priorities, whilst being able to remain calm under pressure.
- I.T literate with fast and accurate data inputting skills and a sound knowledge of MS Office and ideally with experience of working with Oracle databases.
- The ability to work as part of the wider team to achieve the objectives of the department.
- Be receptive to working in a changing environment and with a flexible attitude to work.
- Desirable to have a knowledge and understanding of Accountancy/ Accounting Practice.
