Could You Turn Your Ideas Into Meaningful Activities for Autistic Adults?
If you're creative, energetic and experienced in supporting adults with autism and learning disabilities, Bensham Resource Centre would like to hear from you.
We're looking for an Activity & Community Support Worker who can bring ideas, enthusiasm and practical support to our day centre in Thornton Heath.
This isn't simply about supervising activities. You'll have the opportunity to plan them, develop them and help the people we support participate more fully in their community.
From creative and life-skills sessions at the Centre to visits to cafés, parks, museums, libraries, leisure facilities and other local venues, you'll help create experiences that promote independence, choice, confidence and social interaction.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll work directly with our Service Users, getting to know their individual interests, communication styles, support needs and goals.
Your Role Will Include
- Planning and delivering engaging activities, skills sessions and events.
- Organising community visits and trips.
- Supporting Service Users to develop independence and make choices.
- Providing hands-on support with personal, physical, social and emotional needs.
- Providing personal care and continence support where required.
- Using verbal communication and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) approaches.
- Developing Person-Centred Plans and Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
- Contributing to assessments and reviews.
- Working closely with families, carers, social workers and other professionals.
- Helping identify new activities and opportunities for the Centre and its Service Users.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
