Trainee AutoCAD Technician
Elb Recruit are representing a well-established consultancy specialising in development planning, highways, roads and drainage design.
We are looking for a Trainee Technician to join their team. This is a great opportunity for an ONC/HNC qualified school or college leaver who has a good working knowledge of AutoCAD and is looking to gain practical experience within the civil engineering and development sector.
You will work alongside experienced engineers, technicians and development planners, supporting a range of residential and commercial projects.
The Role
As a Trainee Technician, you will initially provide support to the technical team, with the opportunity to develop your skills and take on more responsibility as your experience grows.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Producing and updating technical drawings using AutoCAD
- Assisting with residential and commercial site layouts
- Supporting road and highway design
- Assisting with drainage and infrastructure drawings
- Preparing plans, sections and other technical drawings
- Working from surveys and engineering information
- Supporting engineers and planners with project work
- Developing your understanding of highway and drainage design
- Working on projects from initial planning through to detailed design
- Liaising with colleagues across the wider design team

Candidate Profile
This role would suit someone who has recently completed, or is close to completing, an ONC or HNC in Civil Engineering, Construction or a related subject.
You should have:
- A good working knowledge of AutoCAD
- An interest in civil engineering, construction or property development
- Good attention to detail
- The ability to read and understand technical drawings
- A willingness to learn and develop
- Good communication skills
- A practical and positive approach to work
- The ability to work well within a team
Previous industry experience isn't essential. The key requirement is that you have a good working knowledge and confidence working with AutoCAD and are keen to put your skills into practice.
