About the role

As part of our Automation Team at Origin Coffee, you will be an integral part of our production team, responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining automated packaging equipment, ensuring our freshly roasted coffee is packed accurately, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

What you'll do

Machine Operation

  • Operate and monitor automated packaging equipment, including our Pouch Filler and Form & Fill machine.
  • Set up machinery according to product specifications and production schedules.
  • Perform product changeovers efficiently and accurately.
  • Monitor machine performance throughout production runs and adjust settings where required.
  • Identify and resolve minor machine faults, escalating more complex issues when necessary.
  • Ensure machines operate safely and consistently to achieve production targets.

Production & Quality

  • Produce finished goods in line with daily production plans and output targets.
  • Carry out quality checks on finished products, including pack presentation, seal integrity, dating, and weight accuracy.
  • Complete all production records and quality documentation accurately.
  • Minimise waste through careful machine operation and attention to detail.
  • Maintain product traceability and compliance with food safety standards.

Equipment Care & Maintenance

  • Conduct routine machine inspections and basic preventative maintenance activities.
  • Support planned maintenance schedules and engineering activities.
  • Ensure machines are carefully and thoroughly cleaned
  • Report equipment issues promptly to minimise downtime.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reliability.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all health, safety, food safety, and hygiene procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organised working environment.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Participate in training and compliance activities as required.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across production, roasting, warehouse, and planning departments.
  • Communicate production issues, machine performance concerns, and quality matters clearly and promptly.
  • Contribute positively to a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and accountability.
  • Embrace and champion Origin Coffee’s values, including honesty, authenticity, and a commitment to excellence.

What you'll bring

Essential

  • Experience working within a manufacturing, production, or food production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to follow procedures and work accurately under pressure.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and confidence operating machinery.
  • Ability to perform physically active work and stand for extended periods.

Desirable

  • Experience operating automated packaging or processing equipment.
  • Previous experience within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of food safety, HACCP, and quality systems.
  • Experience conducting machine changeovers and basic fault finding.
